Tun Mahathir has informed the media that his resignations as Prime Minister, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, and Bersatu chairman in February 2020 were due to his own party’s refusal to listen to him.  Claiming that he initially had full party members’ support on any decisions he made, he told Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that he had no reasons to leave Pakatan Harapan (PH). He further claimed that Muhyiddin Yassin urged that it is a must for him and Bersatu to leave PH to prevent Malays from being destroyed by DAP. What Tun failed to mention was that he also wanted Bersatu to leave Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim during Sheraton Part 1.
So only then did Mahathir refuse to work with UMNO, which leadership has been marred with corruption and Najib Razak. In the past, Tun Mahathir labelled Malays as lazy, and now blamed them for believing and supporting corruptive leaders. He could have done the explanation a few days after his resignation if he knew that he was ‘sabotaged’ by Muhyiddin Yassin’s camp. There seems to be nothing new in his actions to redeem himself. The question is, why was the justification given nearing 18 May? Why was this given only after his motion of no confidence against Muhyiddin Yassin submitted to the Parliament? Why has he started condemning the Malays again now? Well, Tun Mahathir has been known well for a series of controversies such as ridiculing the Malays and abandonment of pertinent roles whenever he is unhappy. Most unfortunately, he abandoned the country and the people with his resignation as Prime Minister during the tough and challenging time of Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, how far can Malaysians trust this 94-year-old man? It’s time to put a stop to this.
