Malaysians made a choice in 2018 when they called for a huge change in the country’s administration against the corrupt Barisan Nasional (BN) government. When BN was defeated, the nation was surprised with ‘a fresh, new way of governance’ under Pakatan Harapan (PH) that has made renowned political leaders going back and forth attending court sessions. Nevertheless, sadly before the whole commuting to courts to receive verdicts that are much expected by the people, a number of cases saw releases of the accused, particularly the stepson of Dato’ Seri Najib Razak, Riza Aziz through a plea bargain. In a media report recently, Kadir Jasin told that the administration of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is almost similar to that of BN, as more UMNO members of Parliament getting GLC leading positions and Najib Razak as the mastermind.
Why is Muhyiddin Yassin allowing this to happen, knowing that some of those he now collaborates with had ‘destroyed’ him in the past? What happened to his words on fighting corruption and the kleptocratic individuals? Isn't he going against the wishes of the His Majesty The King on 18 May at the Parliament? The way the nation sees him right now is he is almost reliving the way of governing done by BN. Are Malaysians going to face the BN-way of life again? Is he attempting to make his UMNO genes dominant again? Malaysians are not going to be safe just by upholding Malay supremacy and the ideology of the Malay/Muslim cabinet setup as greed is one of the things that so-called hold the Malays together. The same goes with the legal injustice being practiced lately during the MCO where there was a huge disparity in the punishments for breaking the MCO between laypeople and VIPs.
Can Malaysians be more patient with these? Muhyiddin Yassin should be lucky not to face any revolts from the people due to the Covid-19 outbreak by now, unlike the days back then where people went on the streets to pressure the BN government to step down. The repercussion of this would certainly be huge against Muhyiddin Yassin if the people had not been ‘locked up’ at home. Is he not seeing the risks of collaborating with the money-hoarding Najib Razak and his family again? Or, is he just like Najib Razak?
There is no other reason than to gain dan sustain political influence and power as prime minister for Muhyiddin Yassin. God knows what deal he had made with Najib Razak that he even managed to silence a number UMNO leaders who had criticized him at the early stage of his ruling as premier. Nonetheless, this could have been much earlier agreed on when they had the Sheraton Move led by Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali. Even if Muhyiddin Yassin is unwell and now being quarantined due to Covid-19, this almost-like-BN government will still run with Azmin Ali proudly leading the way despite his silence from media. What more could Azmin Ali ask for? The premiership is the most-wanted position to all, but Malaysians need a credible leader who honestly cares about them. Will this insensitive fight for power end soon?
