UMNO president Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is certainly desperate for a lifeline and the only one he could turn to right now is Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. The former knows that he will be soon replaced by Dato’ Seri Mohamad Hasan as schemed well by Dato’ Seri Najib Razak and his supporters. He could never go to Tun Mahathir as this man hates UMNO. He might have gone to Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, but he saw a bigger opportunity in Muhyiddin Yassin, who is equally desperate for support to stay on as Prime Minister before the Parliament sitting this 18 May. As a result, the Bersatu president has lobbied more UMNO leaders for support with more GLC leadership offers. This shameful act clearly displays Muhyiddin Yassin’s immature and foolish decision to the eyes of the people.
Who else is desperate for power and position? Tun Mahathir seemed to fall into the same puddle. His desperation to sustain his influence and control has made him bow down once again to work with Anwar Ibrahim under Pakatan Harapan (PH) to fight against Perikatan Nasional (PN). What could be his catch? Isn’t he just going to use Anwar Ibrahim to gain the premiership role once again? Isn’t he going to create the chaos cycle again? Are these politicians doing it for the people or their own sake? If they are willing to grit their teeth and close their eyes to work with their “sworn enemies”, are they not making deals with the devil? Who will be disadvantaged in the end if not the people and the country?
