More revelations of Mahathir’s lies after being humiliated on 18 May?

Malaysian Mirror       Tuesday, May 26, 2020

The audio clip of the Bersatu’s Supreme Council meeting on 23 February 2020, which was claimed by Tun Mahathir and his camp to be edited and tweaked, seemed to sound genuine to the ears of the public. That clip revealed that Tun Mahathir discussed the plan to exit Pakatan Harapan (PH) and was ‘agreed’ by his audience. Also heard in the clip was his mentioning of disliking DAP and PKR president Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and that the party needed time to consider working with UMNO, in which he claimed to be “fickle”.

Correspondingly, the party’s then secretary general, Datuk Marzuki Yahya, told the media on 24 February that the meeting had agreed to exit PH. This concession was however refuted  by Tun Mahathir on the May 18 press conference. Why is he changing his stand on Marzuki Yahya's confirmation after more than 2 months? Definitely Marzuki Yahya must have informed the media with the chairman’s permission as agreed by the Bersatu Supreme Council. Just to recall, this is the same Marzuki Yahya who told the media that the party rejected Tun Mahathir’s resignation! As a matter of fact, Tun Mahathir made him a Senator and Deputy Foreign Minister with no qualification and credibility whatsoever rather than being a loyalist of the former. As such he could not have acted against Tun Mahathir’s wishes.

What could Tun Mahathir’s next move be? A dramatised defeat? Sympathy campaign? More blame game? Play victim? He could have been strategising and planting his ‘hands’ all over the place, including a possibility to tag along with Amanah after ROS disqualifying his role as Bersatu chairman, leaving him and his few ‘clan members’ not only party-less but also out of PH.

It now looks like there is going to be a three-way battle to the premiership between Tun Mahathir, Anwar Ibrahim and the corrupted Dato' Seri Najib Razak. Najib Razak has crawled his way up Perikatan Nasional (PN) by buying most of the UMNO Members of Parliament with cash and positions especially since Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to resign due to bad health. Najib Razak is even willing to gamble into a general election together with his partners - PAS, MCA and MIC. The question now is, who can the people trust? The media manipulation by opposite camps in Bersatu has gone out of hand. Only those who meticulously follow politics would be able to trace truth from lies, yet how about the general crowd? Should Tun Mahathir be allowed to regain his influence among the PH  voters who were miserably let down by him through his unnecessary and unfounded resignation?
