Monday, May 25, 2020- A less-than-two-minutes audio recording of what claimed to be taken from a Bersatu Supreme Council meeting on 23 February 2020 revealed a plan alleged to have been said by Tun Mahathir on the party breaking away from Pakatan Harapan (PH), planning to join UMNO, and strategising a “backdoor government”. It was heard that he told the members of the meeting a number of shocking suggestions among others, expressing hate to DAP and Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Tun Mahathir was also heard to have decided to bring Bersatu out of PH, followed by the sound of agreeing members. Though this clip was claimed to be edited and denied true by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman who claimed he was present at the meeting, anyone even a child could identify that it was authentic-sounding and uttered by “grandpa” (“Atok”). The elephant in the room is, Tun Mahathir said the words "I don't like DAP and I don't like Anwar" and he is not denying that he said the words. He only claims the audio was edited. What hypocrisy is this 94-year-old man displaying to the people?
And then came reports noting that his resignation as Bersatu chairman was legal according to the Registrar of Society (ROS), and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is now the legal acting chairman. This whole thing means that Tun Mahathir has no power to decide for the party anymore, which is extremely a smack to his forehead for someone who initiated the party. Through his lawyer, Haniff Katri, he revolted to claim his innocence and that his resignation was annulled and he is still the chairman. “Madly insane”, is the right expression about this man right now, while “tired of him” is the one expressed by the people.
It is very clear now that Tun Mahathir is facing an equally-crazy enemy who would do similar crazy things that he did in the past. Meaning, if he could circulate explicit recordings of Anwar Ibrahim or Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali, just to name a few, his enemy is mimicking the act against him now. In other words, someone else is playing ‘his game’. Well, Malaysians can judge the clip smartly without even ever being told. Tun Mahathir is clearly a two-faced man who has been producing different tones to different audiences. From the clip, everyone could conclude that the current political chaos – Bersatu’s divorce from PH, outplaying Anwar Ibrahim in the coalition, pretending to appreciate DAP – were among his work to cover up the glitches he made. He had forgotten the fact that Malaysians have gotten tired of him and fellow politicians would want his political career to end for good. The more he struggles to free himself from being tied up, the more bruises he gets, and they will stay on his skin for eternity. Who else to be blamed for the political unrest since his embarrassing resignation as prime minister? Though he claims the clip was edited, people would have strong doubt by now knowing that he masterminded the whole commotion, glitched, and now madly attempting to get back at those who failed and outplayed him.
