DAP strategist Lew Chin Tong’s two-part ‘memoir’ of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin sounds touching, yet it could have been proofread and ‘tuned up’ by someone who desperately wanted to crush the eighth Prime Minister for the humiliation and agony caused onto him. That person must be Tun Mahathir. But why is he pushing for the 94-year-old man up again?
It is practically simple. Tun Mahathir and Lew Chin Tong has an extremely special relationship. This DAP man was among the kingmakers of what transpired in the 2018 GE14 that made Pakatan Harapan (PH) won against Barisan Nasional (BN) government and the Johor state government. Tun Mahathir could have never been gladder if DAP could help him again to get his power again in PH and the country. The old man has hinted few times in his videos about how good DAP has been in assisting the people to fight against the corrupt BN government and that Malays have always been foolish for believing in UMNO. Uplifting DAP has been Tun Mahathir’s plan to get back into PH and claim power against Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim once again.
In return, in which obviously demands a bigger prize, Lew Chin Tong quickly pushed DAP to side Tun Mahathir and wrote a revelation about Muhyiddin Yassin that he knows and the latter’s character and action that led to the winning in GE14 and the establishment of Bersatu and PH, in which DAP had so much involvement in. Muhyiddin Yassin is said to be having the character to “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” that many do not know until the day Sheraton Move in February this year took place, leading to his appointment as the eighth Prime Minister. To be having such ‘dual’ character is nothing new in the world of politics. In fact, it could have been a necessity for anyone who wishes to climb up the political ladder to possess. Tun Mahathir himself is one good example. Is Lew Chon Tong trying to also tell that the old man is the same, too? Why has only Lew Chin Tong gotten excited about slamming Muhyiddin Yassin and not other leaders in DAP and PH? Why have his memoirs echoed Tun Mahathir’s statement about DAP if not for his obsession of the old man? Is he eyeing for a bigger reward from the latter and PH by sidelining his opposition leader? As a so-called political strategist, can't Chin Tong call Tun Mahathir a bluff? On the first issue, how can Tun Mahathir claim that he lost confidence or support to continue as 7th Prime Minister when Bersatu pulled out of PH? Do the maths, PH. At the material time, PH had 113 seats (DAP 42, PKR 50, Warisan 10 and Amanah 11). Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali only walked out from PKR after Tun Mahathir resigned. On the second issue, why must Tun Mahathir claim that he can only hand over premiership to Anwar Ibrahim after the latter secures majority support in Parliament when all that the former needed to do was to make Anwar Ibrahim leader of PH and endorse the PKR leader as premier?
