Although Tun Mahathir willingly let go of his leadership duties in February, despite calls for reconsideration, he now wants the premiership back. What does this prove? Isn't he dead against Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim becoming the 9th Prime Minister? Can’t he just raise his white flag? Why does he want to go against Anwar Ibrahim until he dies? His decision to hold back from handing over leadership of Pakatan Harapan (PH) to Anwar Ibrahim paints a sad future for Malaysian politics especially since he became the 7th Prime Minister by riding on Anwar Ibrahim's PH.
Gaining the people’s mandate again may seem superficial and flimsy. As it has been revealed, Tun Mahathir doesn't like the PKR president and everyone knows that he will never be able to work with the latter until he is buried in his grave. His solemn hatred of Anwar Ibrahim has not ceased for God knows what reason. Thus, how could he pretend to like the latter in PH?
Tun Mahathir’s mistake of pushing Bersatu to leave PH as recorded in the supreme council meeting on 23 February 2020 was truly memorable. Tun Mahathir and his gang of four are now fighting to remain in Bersatu until the party election and take over the party from Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin unless the president makes the first move to sack them...which was supposed to be today.
It is obvious that Muhyiddin Yassin would sack them, and Tun Mahathir and his gang of four will join Amanah to get a back entry into PH so that Tun Mahathir can defeat Anwar Ibrahim for the Opposition leader's post considering that it would be the Opposition Leader who would become the Prime Minister once PH takes over Muhyiddin Yassin's faltering government due to his poor health. Shouldn't PH members be cautious with Tun Mahathir who had once backstabbed them by leaving the coalition and causing PH a huge loss and embarrassment? With the collapse of the 22-month-old PH government, how long can PH trust this man? He has been riding on PH for his own sake and interests from the start aided by the fogged-tongue Syed Sadiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
In fact, PH has been getting bad names just because of Tun Mahathir. PH has been blamed for his greed and mistakes. Malaysians gave their mandate to PH to free the country for corrupt Barisan Nasional (BN) government and with high hopes to relieve them from their burden in life. Instead Tun Mahathir handed the country in a platter to the corrupt UMNO!
How long can Tun Mahathir take PH for granted? Could it be after his blue-eyed boy, Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali, turned his back on him, he had nowhere else to go, even to the extent of willing to let go of his pride and joy – Bersatu – to Muhyiddin Yassin? And in order to regain the trust of the people to PH, shouldn't the coalition leaders learn from their mistakes of choosing Tun Mahathir again? Otherwise it is going to be suicidal. For the sake of the country and the people, PH and especially DAP must break their over reliance on the old man to bring them power, control, money and address which they short lived.
