UMNO leaders recently claimed that the next Prime Minister should be from the Malay party. Well, most Prime Ministers and deputies were bred and fed by the party since independence. Nothing is new. Tun Mahathir who became PM-7 was also a breed of UMNO, though he left the party to head Bersatu. In his blood the UMNO DNA still lives on despite his claims that he hates the party, but often mentions UMNO in his personal milestones. Thus, why should he question Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin behaving toward the likelihood of UMNO, when the latter was also from UMNO?
It seems that Tun Mahathir is very upset by Muhyiddin Yassin’s stubbornness and unexpected actions against his wishes. He thought he could topple the ‘fragile looking” Prime Minister with his motion of no confidence this Monday. But he was stopped by the latter with a simple notice informing the Parliament that the session will only allow the hearing of HM The King’s opening address. He had thought that Muhyiddin Yassin could be easily shaken by his claim that Perikatan Nasional (PN) does not have the majority to become government in the first place when he supposedly had 114 SDs.
As each day passes, more political leaders and parties have vouched in support of PN, and this has eaten him to bits. He had thought that by letting people, especially Malays, to see him the way he wants has recently backfired too because he has been mocking them too much and not uplifting them. Instead, he decided to uplift DAP into siding him in Pakatan Harapan (PH) and blamed Malays for trusting UMNO and its leaders. Muhyiddin Yassin’s further counter attack on the 94-year-old man hurt him the most with Mukhriz Mahathir’s being ousted from Kedah government, with the help of Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali’s supporters – the two PKR assemblymen who left the party to support PN. Tun Mahathir's nightmare is becoming a reality as his blue-eyed boy, Azmin Ali, also has his own plans to reach the premiership position, without his aid. Has he forgotten that he has enemies from all sides? Had he not realized that his time to rest has come? Blaming others for having “UMNO disease” is only making himself hated even more. Many politicians, either friends or foes, have gotten tired of his tricks and drama. Malaysians should be cautious of this man’s act too.
