When Tun Mahathir resigned as prime minister on 24 February 2020 and put the whole country into chaos without a leader for several days, he claimed that he had 112 MP support to govern the country. The day earlier, his blue-eyed boy Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali brought the whole entourage of political warlords from Bersatu, UMNO, MIC, MCA, PAS and others to Sheraton Hotel for that historic coup that led to the formation of a new government and the appointment of a new prime minister. The sequence of events also has led to the His Majesty the King being misled in appointing Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Well, this is not really about Maths. This is politics and from now on, Malaysians should pay attention to the numbers that will certainly decide their future.
Weeks after Muhyiddin Yassin assumes the premiership, the number of MPs siding him and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government fluctuated drastically, in which also saw those that support Pakatan Harapan (PH) decreasing. Nevertheless, Tun Mahathir has kept on saying that he has had his numbers with him to counter PN and motioned a vote of no confidence against Muhyiddin Yassin. Many have noticed that these claims of having enough or majority MP support are only a hearsay and not backed up by concrete evidence that validate them.
Thus, how far can the people believe in them and have faith on what is installed for them? Lay people literally need valid proofs of whatever claims or promises made by these leaders that concern their future. An honest, selfless and genuine leader who cares for them will surely show evidence, while a greedy, deceitful one does not dare to do so and would continue scheming and deceiving these innocent Malaysian voters with superficial claims, especially about the numbers.
Either 113 or 129…or 128, one will surely outshine the other soon. Surely the people are putting high hopes on any of them, with the highest number, to save them from the current plights and free the country from corruption. Let’s pray intensely that this day will soon come.
